What to Bring to an African Safari Adventure

Going to an African safari vacation is very different as compared to going to other destinations because you need to plan everything perfectly from your clothes to your shoes and from your backpacks to your glasses. This is how you should prepare for a trip to the wild life reserve.

Here is a guideline that might give you an idea on what to bring to an African Safari:

Safari Attire
The climate in Africa is usually hot that's why you have to bring comfy clothes, but make sure that it will be able to protect you from the heat of the sun and from mosquito attacks. Thin, long sleeve shirts and long pants are fine. As much as possible, do not use very attractive colours during your safari adventure as animals might come running after you. This is the reason why most people use light, neutral colours like light brown and khaki. You do not have to bring many sets of clothes because you can actually wash your clothes in most safari camps.

Backpack
It is better to use a backpack while on a safari, but make sure that it is light so that it will not have a hard time dragging it around. It is also important that the backpack fits snugly at your back.

Sun block and mosquito repellent lotion
Going on a safari adventure means that you will mostly be under the sun, so you have to apply sun block lotion to prevent sunburns. Aside from applying sun block lotion, you also need to apply mosquito repellent lotion onto the exposed area of your body for you not to get bitten by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes usually are attracted to perfumes or colognes, so avoid using them.

Polarized sunglasses
Since you will be sightseeing all day, you have to wear polarized glasses to protect your eyes from the brightness of the sun.

Shoes
Wear shoes that you're comfortable with. Rubber shoes or rubber slippers are recommended in this kind of adventure because they are light while leather shoes or shoes with heels are kind of absurd.

Hat
Choose a hat that can cover your face, nape and ears.

Camera
This is one of the most important things that you have to bring for you to be able to capture the picturesque views and the animals roaming around. Remember to pack extra batteries and your chargers, too.

Others
When going on a safari, do not forget to bring some medicines and toiletries. You can also bring with you a binocular to have a closer view on the wild life and beautiful sceneries. MP3 or iPod is also a good thing to have to keep you relaxed while waiting to be toured. Bring also your mobile phone so that you can keep in touch with your family.
