A hotel for railway enthusiasts

Merzen near Osnabrück is home to Germany‘s only three-star hotel-on-rails.

Hotel Bahnhof Lechtrup-Merzen attracts railway enthusiasts from Germany and abroad wanting to spend a night on the rails. Its nine well-appointed double rooms are located in five railway carriages in sidings under a station canopy. The railway accommodation boasts every luxury, including flat-screen TVs, phones, showers and wireless internet.

Don‘t try and find the hotel in a railway timetable though, it was dreamed up by the Dückinghaus family who run a long-established inn next door where the railway theme continues.

Drinks are delivered on model trains and in summer computer-controlled trains even serve the guests in the beer garden.
